Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation House
Brunswick, GA
From 1800 to 1913, Hofwyl-Broadfield was a thriving rice plantation. Today the 1,268-acre historic site is a mix of salt marsh, pasture and flatwoods. A nature trail leads along the edge of the marsh where rice once flourished. A museum features silver from the family collection and tours of the antebellum home show family heirlooms, 18th and 19th century furniture, and Cantonese china. Hundreds of historic live oak trees dot the property.

Wood stork, bald eagle, osprey, glossy ibis, painted bunting, yellow-throated warbler, northern parula.
Tips
Look for warblers during spring and fall migrations, northern parulas and yellow-throated warblers in spring and summer, and clapper rails and marsh wrens in the marshes throughout the year. Ospreys are common in spring and summer.
